Our Executive Director, Ido Dimri, joined Good Afternoon Britain on GB News live from Tel Aviv on 1 October 2026. He spoke about Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that Israel had warned Britain about a possible Iranian-linked attack, and about the attempt to bring down a Tel Aviv-bound flydubai flight.
The background
- The warning. Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that Israel passed information to the British authorities about a possible Iranian-linked attack, ahead of the incident at RAF Fairford.
- The sanctions. Britain has since announced new sanctions targeting Israeli settlements. The UK Government says the measures are aimed at settlements, not at Israel as a whole.
- The flight. On a flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv, the co-pilot is accused of trying to crash the aircraft. The wounded captain and an Israeli passenger helped to stop him. During the broadcast, Netanyahu said the co-pilot had undergone “Islamist radical indoctrination”. The investigation is ongoing.
What Ido said
Ido described how many Israelis feel about the timing: Israel shared important security information with Britain, and the following day Britain announced sanctions. He asked viewers to imagine the same thing happening to their own country. “Think about you, about your country,” he said. “How will you feel about it?”
He sent his best wishes to the injured captain and his family, and thanked him and the Israeli passenger whose courage meant that the story is about an attack that was stopped, not “the next nine eleven”.
While stressing that the investigation is not yet complete, he was clear about one thing: “A terror attack you can’t do alone.” In his view, “there is a sponsor behind him.”
